TYPEFACE DESIGN is one of the most gloriously unsuitable fields of endeavour that could possibly exist in the millenial or for that matter any other time. That makes it irresistable, of course. With the aid of the computer, it has never been easier to design a typeface, and never easier to manufacture one. It is still, as it always has been, hard to make money from them. Because of PostScript and font creation programs like Fontographer, Font Studio, and Font Lab, there have never been more typeface designs available, nor have there ever been so many typeface designers active. Yet, just as at all times and places throughout history there is very little good of anything to be had, so there are remarkably few really fine typefaces available today.
